self-discipline
"Self-discipline requires an understanding of oneself and an awareness of the ways in which one can cope with difficulties, frustrations, and disappointments. Self-discipline affords a person the inclination to concentrate on a task as long as is necessary to learn, perfect, or complete it." - A. Gedrose

Gala Dinner April 30th, 2011
I have been volunteering with Gallery 7 Theatre Company for the past few months and I have offered to sell tickets for their up coming Gala dinner. So you can also get tickets through me:)
We invite you to attend our Third Annual Imagine! Gala on Saturday April 30th at Gallery 7 Theatre in the MEI
Secondary School Gymnasium. Our ultimate dream is to have a fully independent theatre space that is the theatrical
hub of the Fraser Valley. We are so pleased that the Gallery 7 Theatre community has grown with us over the last 20
years. Our goal is to continue to partner with people as we move forward over the next 20 years until we can be in
our own theatre space by 2030! We have made a great beginning raising thousands of dollars with our last two
Imagine galas. This support helps us continue in the present even while building a solid financial footing for our
future. We want you to be part of our third great fundraising event.
Since this season marks our 20th anniversary, we are celebrating with a unique theatre revue production – 20 years
in 20 minutes – a hilarious one-act play that compiles all our productions into one 20 minute piece! We are also
pleased that Abbotsford’s own Cinnamon Toast Funk will be on hand to provide musical entertainment that is sure
to get us moving.
You will enjoy an amazing dinner prepared by award-winning chef, Michael Dicks, owner of Culinary Touch Catering
and Q Steakhouse Restaurant, who is passionate about food and promises to delight us with his culinary creations.
Roving actors in character from previous shows will entertain guests before dinner begins. The evening will be MC’d
by one of Gallery 7’s own actors, Shelley Picard.
You’ll also have an opportunity to bid on high-quality silent auction items. Be sure to visit our website where we will
keep a list of items up for auction.
And finally, you’ll hear testimonials from actors and others who volunteer with the theatre and learn more about
how your participation makes a difference.
So mark your calendar for April 30th and plan to attend Gallery 7’s Imagine Gala, which will take place at the MEI
gym, 4081 Clearbrook Road, in Abbotsford. Tickets are $75/person, of which $25 is a receiptable donation, or you
can purchase a Table of Eight for $600, of which $200 is tax deductible. There will be opportunity for you to
contribute further if you wish to do so.
Tickets are available:
• on-line at www.gallery7theatre.com
• from any of Gallery 7’s board members
• when you call 604-504-5940
We look forward to sharing this evening with all of you!

Spring 2011
Yesterday was the 8th birthday of my little girl Carmelle. She is my miracle baby because she almost didn't survive at birth. Her arrival into the world was tramatic to say the least and the doctors concerns about possible brain damage are now the furthest things from my mind. Carmelle is a perfectly healthy, well developed and intelligent little girls. She has incredible reading abilities for her age and she excels in the arts. Carmelle is confident, well spoken, friendly and full of personality. Just last month she performed a solo at the church kid's talent show and even though she was nervous and had a cold, she did amazingly well. Her daddy accompanied her on piano as she sang his song "Found myself in you", which she picked to sing. We were so proud of her. Those lungs of hers singing out, when 8 years ago at her birth they struggled for oxygen, became oxygen deprived, needed resusitation to take the first breath...and now took our breath away!
I love the fact that my little girls love to dress-up as princesses and as pirates. I think it's great that they are well balanced as tomboys and as girlie girls. Carmelle wanted a pirate themed birthday party this year. It didn't work to have a big party with kids so we did a family fun party instead. I found some pirate stuff at the dollar store and made them pirate costumes. I dressed up a bit but my parent's and brother and sister-in-law went all out! IT was the most gorgeous day of the year so far and it was the best day for a treasure hunt on the farm. Grandpa Wagner made the best treasure map of their farm and Grandma made treasures to be found at every spot. Grandpa also wrote out rhyming clues for Carmelle to read leading to every new found treasure. We all had a lot of fun....yaaarrrrr! Grandma made a pirate birthday cake and Carmelle opened up more of her birthday treasures. It was a wonderful and memorable occasion and such a great thing to celebrate...the birth of Carmelle 8 years ago!

have a little faith
I just finished reading the book "have a little faith" by Mitch Albom, author of "Tuesdays with Morrie". It's an incredible true story of a man digging a whole lot deeper into faith and finding there God's greater purpose for his own life.

Quote from the book "Life without Limits" by Nick Vujicic
Page 101
" When it seems like you can't catch a break, try creating your own. When you've been hit and knocked down by an overwhelming loss or tragedy, allow yourself time to grieve, and then act to create some good out of the bad.
Adopting an attitude of action creates positive momentum. The first steps are the hardest, no oubt about it. Just getting up out of bed may seem impossible at first, but once you are up, you can move forward, and as long as you are moving forward, you are on a path away from the past and towardd the future. Go with that. Move ahead step by step."

Patience.
Patience is more than waiting for an answer or for the receipt of blessing.
Patience is deeper than struggling with the passage or time.
Patience is the practise of trusting even when we cannot see.
Patience forces us to focus on doing our part, while we wait for God to do His.
Patiences pinpoints areas where we must grow in order to receive.
Patience evokes a spirit of humility because we recognize that we are not in charge.
Patience involves seeking the Source insteadd of the solution.
Patience is maturity revealed.
Patience is the art of waiting, expectantly, joyfully and quietly when you have no iddddea what you are waiting for.
Patience is the ability to stand perfectly still in the vortex of chaos, andd be totally content to hang out until further notice simply because you have no intention or desire to move forward without His instruction.

Writing.
One of the reasons I haven't been blogging is because I am writing a book. I am writing a book about my experiences with breast cancer. I intend on posting a few excerpts soon so you can have a sneak peek. The working title of my book is,"Everything but Normal!" A humorous and heartfelt memoir of a young women's life with and without her breasts. I will keep you posted.
